So you’ve booked your Tropical Getaway on the Coast, the family is ready, the kids are beyond excited, your accommodation is sorted but you’re left with 1 more question, what on earth do we do there if its not a good day for the beach? The South Coast and Port Edward itself are blessed with more than just blue flag beaches, pancakes, and waffles. There are a host of various activities and destinations that you can visit and enjoy with the kids while taking your trip down the coast, we have outlined just a few of both our surrounding and in-house activities for you to read over and plan for on your next trip.

 

Port Edward:

Beaver Creek Coffee Farm: Let's face it, on our day to day lives there just isn’t room for bad coffee and why should your holiday be any different? Beaver Creek is the perfect outing for any coffee fanatic with their insightful coffee tour that takes you through their whole process from growing, harvesting, roasting, brewing and finally a bottomless tasting that allows testing of all their best blends while enjoying a meal at their restaurant. Beaver Creek also plays host to a few very talented baristas that offer something for the aspiring barista with a quick and easy 2 hour home barista course. What better experience to take home than that of showing off to your friends your new found coffee skills and knowledge.

Clearwater Trails: Perfect for all outdoor and fitness fanatics Clear Water Trails are both beautiful and accommodating to enthusiasts of all levels. Running through the majestic Umtamvuna Nature Reserve and overlooking its breathtaking gorge Clearwater Trails offer both the advanced and beginner Mountain Biker and Trail Runner various options to chose from on their getaway making sure you get to see both the amazing sites and stay in shape during your time away. Clearwater and Beaver Creek alike also do offer organised Mountain Bike rides for our avid cyclists.

Red Desert: One of the coasts ecological wonders and something always worth visiting Banners Rest in Port Edward is home to one of the Smallest Deserts in the World with our little but curious Red Desert, measuring only 200m across and surrounded by lush tropical vegetation the Red Desert really is the perfect little educational trip for you and the kids. Keep an eye out for some ancient artifacts during your walks around there and they are known to be found while venturing around. The Red Desert is the perfect place to mix things up between a tropical getaway that includes mostly water related products. Your next instagram post lives here!

The wakeboard and wakeskate scene is no different and with the best coaching facilities and coaches in the country, we offer you the perfect learning experience on the water. Whether you’ve never done it before or looking at pushing your riding to the next level we have what you need to do it. We have all the equipment on site as well as both cable and boat options. This goes for the same with our Jet Ski Rides, we have the best instructors eagerly awaiting your arrival to get out on the water for a burn-up and down the beautiful Umtamvuna River. Mac Banana: Just a short 15 minute ride away from us and you will be at Mac Banana, known for their variety in delicious pancakes Mac Banana also offers a variety of fun and games for the family and friends alike. From Quad Biking, Paintball, a Chimpanzee course, Putt-Putt and a whole lot more you are guaranteed an amazing full day out at Mac Banana with the family. The perfect day trip for families of all ages.

Wild Coast Sun Water Park: One of the newest if not the newest waterpark in SA the Wild Coast Sun Waterpark boasts a variety of water slides and rides for kids and adults alike. They also have surrounding activities such as Segway Tours and Beach Horseback riding, if the weather allows this is another fun filled day on our beautiful coastline not to mention additional activities available at Wild Coast like the Wild Coast Sun Golf Course and for the people who prefer the indoors a cinema, arcade and tenpin bowling.
