THE VENUE

With several options to choose from, you may wish to exchange your vows with beach sand between your toes under the tropical palm trees, on the rolling lawns surrounded by beautiful indigenous plants and trees or even on the wooden deck, set against the breathtaking cliff face overlooking the "island" paradise on the banks of the river. Smaller weddings or even Cocktail Hours can be enjoyed around the pool lapa with the tranquil sounds of water cascading from the rock pool.Celebrate your marriage under the stars or in the reception area that opens onto a large weather proof deck with nature hugging at the balustrade and joining in the festivities.Indoors or outdoors, Umtamvuna River Lodge offers a beautiful, romantic setting for your wedding with nature as the backdrop for your big day.

Accommodation Block Booking Offer

Our rooms have King size beds (or twin singles) with cotton percale linen, a sleeper couch, en-suite bathroom with both a shower & or bath, mini bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, flat screen TV's with selected DSTV channels, fan & air conditioning as well as its own balcony. 

We have 4 Garden View Rooms, 4 River View

Rooms as well as our Executive Suite available for our newly weds and their family to book at a 30% Discount. 

To qualify for this all you have to do is book ALL of our rooms at the latest 1 month after confirming your booking. 

Kitchen Hire

All our brides and caterers are welcome to use our kitchen for their needs during the day of their wedding. 

Kitchen hire is R8000 for the day, this will also need to be accompanied by a R5000 refundable breakage deposit. 

All brides or caterers will be required to provide their own waitrons or service staff. Alternatively the venue can provide waitrons at the additional price of R350 per waitron to be used from the start of the venue hire to midnight. Anytime there after will be charged at R50 per hour. 

The Kitchen will be accessible from 10am on the day of the function. Should you require our kitchen for an extended period of time and additional fee will be levied.

Beverages

We have a fully stocked bar in the reception area with a basic distribution of 

beers, ciders, wines, spirits, shooters and soft drinks.  2 Barmen are included in the venue hire and last rounds are served at 23h30.

 

We are a fully licensed venue therefore no alcohol is to be brought onto the premises. We do offer a corkage on Wines and Champagnes at R40 per 750ml bottle. 

For your ceremony and pre reception needs we have the additional option of our riverside Hide Bar which can be stocked and staffed for an additional R750. This will be open 1 hour before the ceremony and closed 15 minutes before you are scheduled to enter your reception. 

*10% service fee is charged on all bar services. Should the function fall on a Sunday or Public Holiday the service fee will then be 15%.

ACCOMMODATION

 

Accommodation at Umtamvuna consists of eight spacious en-suite double rooms which open onto a wooden deck with a relaxing view of the river and gardens as well as a honeymoon suite. All of the rooms are furnished with double sofas/sleeper couches, flat screen LCD TVs selected DSTV channels, air-conditioners, heaters and fans as well mini fridges and tea & coffee facilities. Each room has either a king size bed or two single beds which are covered in crisp cotton percale linen. We also have a list of recommended accomodation close to the venueunderstand that your guests may require details on nearby hotel, B&B or self-catering accommodation; please contact us for information and bookings.

8 Airconditioned en-suite Rooms

FLOWERS, CONFETTI

AND DECOR

Florists must have their work completed no less than 2 hours prior to the function. All flower arrangements, décor and equipment must be removed by 10h00 the next day. Because we are situated in a nature reserve, we unfortunately cannot allow the use of paper confetti, glitters, or any other unnatural material. You are however welcome to use natural materials like petals, bubbles etc. To prevent the potential danger of fire to our thatched roofs and upholstered chairs, sky lanterns or any other type of fireworks are also not allowed on the premises of Umtamvuna River Lodge. No nails, tape, glue or staples are to be used in the Chapel or the Lodge. Feel free to discuss your requirements with management and we will try our best to meet your requirements.



 

TIME LIMITS

We require music to be switched off at 00h00, unless alternative arrangements have been made with the owners. The Bar normally closes at 00h00, and guests to leave at 00h30 latest . Should you require services to be available later than the above times, please discuss your requirements with management, so that a quote can be given to extend the cut off time. (Two weeks' notice required for additional staff) Alternatively you may opt for a Beach Bonfire Afterparty, please feel free to discuss this option with our wedding team.

GENERAL

We provide square Oregan tables and antique wooden chairs with upholstered seats for use in the main reception area as well as white washed traditional church pews for your ceremony. Please make sure that our facilities and equipment meet your requirements before paying a deposit for a wedding.

We offer an optional photo-beach cruise for the couple and/or bridal party with the photographer (after the ceremony - maximum 1 – 1.5 hours) for excellent photo opportunities along the river and on the beach. We also offer a photo booth set-up including a variety of props (Please ask for quotation) 

​Cancellations

Cancellations made more than 12 (twelve) months’ with  written notice prior to the Commencement Date, 75% of the Deposit shall be forfeited and 25% of the Deposit shall be reimbursed. 

Cancellations made between 6 (six) months and 12 (twelve) months written notice prior to the Commencement Date, 80% of the Deposit shall be forfeited and 20% of the Deposit shall be reimbursed. 

Cancellations made between 3 (three) and 6 (six) months written notice prior to the Commencement Date, 85% of the deposit shall be forfeited and 15% of the Deposit shall be reimbursed.
