Boating

​

Experience the thrill of boating on the Umtamvuna River, a premier destination for water sports enthusiasts! With our year-round tropical climate and calm, protected waters, it's no wonder that top international professional wakeboarders choose this spot for training. You can conveniently moor your boat on our beach, but please note all launches must be done at the nearby public launch site

(Old Pont Caravan Park) for safety and control. Make sure to bring all necessary documentation, including licenses, skippers and safety equipment, for a smooth and enjoyable experience!

Laundry


There is an external laundry service provider which we use. This is only possible for longer stays as pickup / drop off is on a Monday and Thursday only. There is alternatively a laundromat in Port Edward.

 

Braai Facilities

 

There are braai facilities available for guests only. If you would like friends to join you please make arrangements at reception for a day visiter rate.

Swimming Pool


Please bring your own swimming towels. Please note children to be supervised at all times as there is no lifeguard on duty.

Fishing


The Umtamvuna river is great for fishing, fish from the rocks or use a fishing charter for river or even deep sea fishing.

Boarderpost Wakeboarding


South Africa's premier wakeboarding venue.  Home to some of the best pro wakeboarders South Africa and Europe has to offer.
Learn to wakeboard (beginner to professional) in warm tropical conditions year-round on flat water behind boat or on our 2-Tower cable system with personal instruction by Kevin, Ashton  and Cody Dry and other top international pro wakeboarders and wakeskaters. This is where the South African section of Oakleys "Push Process"  was filmed.. If you are a boardrider who loves surfing uncrowded surf spots in boardshorts and wakeboarding or wakeskating on protected, flat, warm water, staying at a lodge in comfortable air-conditioned rooms.. you have just found heaven!!

 There are many top courses to play in the surrounding area. The closest being the infamous Wild Coast Sun. Southbroom, as well as          San Lamere, are less than 20min drive away.

Wild Coast Sun Resort which is 7 min drive from Umtamvuna River Lodge.
There is something here for all the family with exhilerating rides, lazy rides,
an aquaplay area for the younger ones and even a SuperBowl.
Check out the AquaLoop that you will take you up nearly vertical in a loop
or the Boomerang tube ride which gives a sensation of feeling weightlessness.
The Wild Waves has cost R80 million to build and includes some of the fastest
water slides in the world.

​Mountain Biking


Clearwater / Beavercreek mountain biking trail network (less than 5 min away) offers a marvelous mix of terrain and memorable sightseeing with four custom-built and carefully marked MTB trails which have something to suit all levels and tastes with riding on single and double tracks. All the trail options are set against the alluring backdrop of the Indian Ocean with the longer trails passing through Beaver Creek Coffee Estate and Crags View Wild Care Centre before ending at Clearwater Trail Centre & Taverna.
The trails are made up of 80% hand built single track plus jeep track and gravel road with options to  remain on moderate gradients or attempt the downhill sections and of course the ascent back onto the ridge. Berms, switchbacks, natural ramps, bridges and water crossings all add to the adventure and will test those skills of balance and agility.  Trail runners also welcome!

​Umtamvuna nature reserve and hiking trails


This southernmost nature reserve in KwaZulu-Natal is a botanical paradise consisting of an interesting stretch of riverine forest and steep rocky cliffs. Bordering the Umtamvuna River, the 3 247 hectare reserve boasts a fine display of flowers in springtime. There are numerous walks highlighting the fantastic scenery of different parts of the reserve.
These trails vary in duration from one to three-hour or an all-day hike. Many hours and days can be spent exploring the diverse habitats. Both the Cape vulture and fish eagle breed in the reserve and many other bird species have been recorded. Bushbuck, serval, baboon, samango monkeys, blue and grey duiker and common reedbuck occur in the reserve.

The Wild Coast Sun Resort (less than 7 min away) is one of Southern Africa's oldest and most popular casinos. The casino has over 400 slot machines with smart card technology. Many slot machines are connected to Sun International's country-wide progressive jackpots.
